aims to become a turning point for exploiting scientific data from space missions more efficiently,
through a new computational framework for astrophysics based on big data and data mining technologies.
The project aims to boost the scientific exploitation of European Space Agency's (ESA) mission data
by offering a new computational framework for astrophysical research that requires Big Data and Data Mining technologies.
SPACIOUS raises the competitiveness of the European Union scientific community by increasing the Big Data and Data Mining expertise
and providing easier access to these techniques.
By integrating existing technologies into a unique Data Mining environment,
SPACIOUS enables deeper analysis of ESA mission data beyond current limits.
Our goal is to make this platform available to the wider community, promoting collaborative astrophysical research and innovative analysis of ESA science archives.
SPACIOUS@home
contributes to the SPACIOUS project by providing a volunteer computing
platform based on BOINC, which allows any citizen with a laptop
to contribute to solving cutting-edge astrophysical problems.
Professional astronomers registered in the project will prepare
small data fractions with computing jobs to be distributed among volunteers. In order to
start helping astronomers disentangling the mysteries of the universe, you
just need to register to SPACIOUS@home and share your computing idle time.
